I held 1500 shares of TZA into the close yesterday looking for a possible gap down at open this morning. Well guess what? I got my gap-down at open. Saw a $5000 unrealized gain fading since open. I kept telling myself that this is just a weak bounce and once the bounce is over the market will continue lower lower and then CRASH!!! Instead, what the fuck did the market do? It continue to rally, I turned into a deer in the headlights mode watching my profit fading +$4000, +$3000, +$2000, +$1000 .......... aaaaaaaaaaaaannd I end up selling for -$200 loss!! Pigs gets slaughtered folks, and I was one BIG FAT CHINESE PIG this morning. Protect your profits at all time, don't let your EGO run the game. Have a kick ass weekend everyone!

"To sum it up"

The market is entering extremely oversold levels and I think we are due for a bounce (Fingers crossed). Don't get me wrong, I am not saying we have hit bottom. However, I would like to be prepared to take advantage of this bounce when it does happen. Few of the the indicators are at some pretty extreme levels such as $VIX and $NYMO, both indicators are showing a higher chance of market rebound. (See chart below)

It is important to see signs of buying near the 1101.75 levels. This is a 38.2% retracement level. (From the lows of 2009 to the peak of 2011.) So it should be an important support level to watch. The last time we tested the 38.2% retracement level and bounced was back in June 2010. Should we knife through that level like butter, I would not be surprise that we might sold off to 1050 levels before a bounce. Anyway, this post is not about taking sides or betting the market WILL BOUNCE for sure. This is more of a preparation of what the market might bring and be able to react to it as quick as possible. Plan your trade and trade your plan. Peace.

So what made me buy the stop?

1) I talked about $ORS yesterday on my Trading ideas post, that $3.00 was a big support for the stock and it seem to held on Friday and managed to close at $3.19. So as long as the $3.00 level holds, I am bullish.

2) The stock made a small gap up and immediately spiked higher on volume within minutes after open.

3) Below are my executions on the trade.

The total profit was around $1,200 and I spent about 13 mintues on the trade. After that I think you can just call it day. Don't work for your money, make it work for your. Sometimes sitting in front of your desk all day does not translate into more profit. Plan your trade, and trade your plan.

$CRIC and $YOKU daytrade review

Just want to go over two trades I made today $CRIC and $YOKU. The gains weren't that glamorous but it was a profitable day after all. Some of you might wonder why I did not go over $JVA or $QIHU those two swing trades that I took last week which netted me $10,000+ (or some of you might wonder when am I going to stop talking about it). Well, the reason I would like to review these two trades that I took today because day-trading requires more skills than swing-trading. It requires undivided attention and instant decision making. Any slightest hesitation while day trading could easily turn your profits into losses (sometimes massive losses) in a matter of minutes or sometime seconds.

I woke up at 10:00am after a drunk ass night and came across with $CRIC, a stock that got destroyed by the market since the beginning of June and it have since bounced off it's $4.50 lows. Below is the intraday chart.

The stock was tabbing yesterday's highs at $3.37 on volume. So I enter my position at 3.37(bought 3k shares) and got a bad fill at 3.39. Then as expected the stock spiked on volume to $5.49(which if I took profit, I would netted $300 within five minutes from my original entry) Unfortunately, the stock quickly faded from it's $5.49 highs (that should be your first warning sign that the breakout trade might fail) I waited another five minutes and the stock indeed began to trade lower which I eventually sold at 3.34, a total of $150.00 loss on the trade.

After failing to make money with my half awake/drunken shit face. I decided to take a five minutes break and brush my yellow ass teeth. Then I came across another opportunity which was $YOKU, an Internet stock that initially gapped up in the morning and it has been fading all day (A warning sign this stock is not showing strength).

The stock broke below $28 intraday support I immediately enter a short position at 27.77 (2000 shares, yes I chased it) Now, I was fully aware that this stock could quickly reverse and I might inherent another round of losses.(Which I talked about Accepting Your Risk back in Jan 2011) Guess what? The stock did begin to reverse and I am here staring at the chart watching the trade failing and my account size diminishing -$50, - $100, - $200, then eventually the stock reversed back all the way to $28.00 (which was the intraday support and now resistance). At this point, I was down $450 on the trade but then I gave it another five minutes to see if it can break back above it's intra-day support. If it did, I would cover my position some where around $28.10 and eat another round of massive losses then call it the day; However, my patience paid off. The stock quickly sold off from it's intarday $28 resistance and begin to trade lower. The trade turned positive and I begin to cover with my 1/3,1/3,1/3 strategy 27.39 (covered 600 shares), 27.29(covered 600 shares) then 27.17(covered rest of 800 shares); and that end up netted me a $1,000 profit on the trade.

The stock did eventually bottom at $26, which if I held my last 1/3 position and let it ride I would have made another $900. Too bad. =(

$IMGN Trade review

Breakout trade is no doubt one of my favorite style of trading and today $IMGN was definitely a perfect example of a breakout trade. I sure did leave a chunk on the table but the point of today's post is about perfect execution without hesitations.

My volume scan alert picked up $IMGN today and this is exactly what I did within the next 10 seconds.

1) Checked daily chart
2) Saw it testing $10.01(previous resistance level on daily chart) with in 20mins of open.
3) Pulled up my trading platform and immediately bought the stock at 10.08.

Some of you would ask me why I entered the trade of $IMGN after it has gone up 60 cents since open. Well, one main reason was Volume.

Volume is absolutely crucial in order for any momentum stocks to work. If you look at the IMGN. The stock's average volume trades around 590,000 a day.

Now take a look at this chart below. I am only showing you the first 25mins of the trading day. So that you can get a feel of what I was looking at this morning when I bought the stock.

This is what happened to the stock for the rest of the day.

I call this PERFECT EXECUTION. Some of you might laugh at me and say "WTF? how is that perfect execution? If it was perfect execution you would have bought the stock at the lows after all isn't trading about LOW RISK, HIGH REWARD??" NO! Perfect execution means whenever a trading opportunity is present in-front of you. You execute your trade without hesitation. Trading is about being able to take risk and a lot of new traders are having difficulty to enter a trade without over-thinking. They bring in fear in their trading, afraid of losing money or afraid of being wrong. So please get rid of those hesitations and start trading fearlessly.

Now if you missed the initial entry, and here is what you want to do. A stock can not go up forever(you don't need me to tell that.) therefore, you let the stock pullback/consolidate and stalk for re-entry. Here is what you want to look for before blindly reentering the stock. See chart below.

$IMGN was no doubt a great breakout trade today. I hope I did a good job at explaining my trading style/philosophy. Hopefully when a similar setup shows up again, you guys would know exactly what to do.

Just doing a quick update for a friend of mine because his work won't allow him to access dropbox link. So I have to post it here on my blog. I talked about a potential move on $MCP over the weekend where a low risk entry was present to us around the $43 levels. Today the stock spiked HARD AFTER our Stock clown Jim Cramer trashed $MCP on his show for being overvalued. I have said it many times before and I will say it again. Technical trading is almost ALWAYS about what you see and not what you think. Keep your risk and reward ratio at the minimal of 1 : 3 then you will live a long life in this business.

Just writing a short follow up on my Think Probabilities post back in Jan 22, 2011.

The general market have rallied nearly 4% since my market pull back call on Jan 22, 2011.

I was dead wrong about a short term pullback of the market. However, the rally did not have any effect on my short picks. As I stated on my before, these stocks weren't part of the market rally to begin with. In fact, five out of six have gone down substantially since my short call. The only position that did not pan out was $NG.

The REAL Happy New Years - Chinese Style

Yesterday was one EPIC day for me. I managed to nailed $ICGN and raked in nearly $5,000 on the trade. Transaction below:

See this is what technicians do, we read charts and we expose ourselves to the highest probability setups. However, I made a giant rookie mistake yesterday right before the close. I bought THQI into the close simple because I thought it was a beautiful breakout trade. What I did not realize was that they had earnings coming out afterhours and the stock tanked nearly 10% which set me back a good $1,500. Transaction below:

So please always, always check for earnings date, FDA approval date, or any major news that might change the course of the stock overnight and be sure to avoid them if your trade was solely a technical analysis.

BUT WAIT!! THE STORY IS NOT OVER YET: Like I said before, "You are not your losing trades."

I will manage to make back those losses soon, in fact, I think I already broke even in premarket hours, You know why? No, it was not from stock trading. It was from something more Gangster, RED ENVELOPES.

For those of you who do not know what, RED ENVELOPES are. Let me give you a wikipedia crash course.

"Red envelopes are mainly presented at social and family gatherings such as weddings or on holidays such as the Lunar New Year. The red color of the envelope symbolizes good luck and is supposed to ward off evil spirits. The act of requesting for red packets is normally called (Mandarin): Hóng Bāo , (Cantonese): Lai See. A married person would not turn down such request as it would mean that he or she would be "out of luck" in the new year. You are not your losing trades

I was so confident that CCME would continue higher on 1/28/2011. So I bought the stock near the close at $23.00 on 1/27/2011 and held overnight. The stock DID spike higher the next day. However, I was in a sleeping beauty mode and did not get a chance to take profit before the stock came crashing down. Hence, I turned a 1k profit trade into 2k losses. Below is the transaction:

I opened my platform and saw my account was down -$2,000 on my CCME position. Instead of spending my time crying about it, getting angry, frustrated and thinking about should have wake up early, could have set alarm clock, would have made 1k this morning...etc I clicked the sell button immediately and made a FFFFFUUU Comic then eventually move on looking for my next opportunity. Which leads to my ARAY trade, a nearly +$1,500 trade. Below is the transaction:

This is what we call accepting the RISK in trading. Unfortunately, I was unable to fully recover my losses of the day, but that's not my point. What was important is that my losing trade did not cause me to lose my self control, confidence, discipline and focus.

Many traders would define their risk(stop loss) and profit potential then place in a trade. However, when things did not turn out the way they wanted to be. Instead of accepting their risk/cutting loss and move on for the next opportunity. They waste their time complaining about the trade then become frustrated, angry, and emotional. Now, not only did they lose money on the trade, they also loss something that is very important to all successful traders, attitude. Believe me, losing your attitude is way worse than losing your money in a trade because that's when you start revenge trading, over trading...etc which leads you into a deeper hole, end up losing more money. So PLEASE!! NEVER, EVER make such mistakes.

Here are my suggestions whenever you encounter a losing trade:

1) Obey our stop loss - Sell it immediately and move on to the next trade.
2) Walk away - go for a walk, watch some TV or go take a dump if you have to.
3) Never add to your losing trade - Adding to a losing position would usually end up in bigger losses.

Listen, I am not talking about a CRASH here. All I am expecting is a reasonable size pullback in the next few weeks.

The chart above are the Major US indices, and as you see they are showing weakness all across the board. The key to be a professional trader is to constantly think in probabilities.

Probabilities is essential to all successful traders who profit from this market consistently. Since I am sensing weakness in the market in the coming week or so, I am more inclined to short some stocks that are already showing weakness or underperformed the market in the past few months. If my projection is correct, which is if the market decided to pull back starting next week. Chances of that this pull back will help pushing these bearish stocks even lower would be high.

What if I am wrong? What if the market decided to charge higher next week due to some amazing earning data/ economic data...etc.? That's OK too, why? Because these undeformed stocks weren't part of the stock market rally in the last few months to begin with and the chances of them rallying with the rest of market are low. Therefore I can easily buy-to-cover my short positions to break-even or get out with a small scratch.

Trading the market is no different than playing a simple Hi - Low Drinking game. When the face card is showing a King, most likely the player would predict the next card to be lower. So please treat trading simple and always THINK PROBABILITIES.

OK! This has nothing to do with the CHICAGO BEARS beating the SEAHAWKS last Sunday.

ANYWAY... Back to the stock market. $FFIV plunged 23 percent after the company forecast lower-than-expected revenue for first quarter of 2011 got almost EVERYONE on twitter crying about the market is about to fall apart 2008 Style (BOO... WOO..). Ask yourself, since WHEN FFIV became the market leader? Since WHEN one day makes a trend of the market? The market has gone up 20+% since September 2010 and you don't think it deserves a pull back? JEZZ (You greedy son of a BULL)

Listen, if market wants to pull back. You have three options:

1) Hang on to your LONG positions and cry about it

Overnight Hold setups

Yesterday, about twenty minutes before market closed, I decided to held a list of stocks ahead of Friday job numbers. There three main criteria that it must consist in order to qualify as an overnight hold play. First, the stock must be traded in (above average/ high volume). Second, the stock must closed near or at the HOD(high of day). Lastly, it must be a stock that recently broken out from a consolidation range. Another reason I enjoy trading these setups is because even if the market turn against you, a good setup would help you minimize your losses and allows you to exit your positions with a small scratch. Below are some stocks that I believe having a high chance of gapping up/ continuation to the upside tomorrow.

The not so rare Rare Earth Metals

According to Wikipedia - "Despite their name, rare earth elements (with the exception of the highly unstable promethium) are relatively plentiful in the Earth's crust, with cerium being the 25th most abundant element at 68 parts per million (similar to copper). However, because of their geochemical properties, rare earth elements are not often found in concentrated and economically exploitable forms. Instead, they are usually found inrare earth minerals.^[2] It was the very scarcity of these minerals (previously called "earths") that led to the term "rare earth"."

Sooooo... Yes, they are not that rare but I am not going to spend time to justify these rare earth companies's earnings vs their share prices. The truth is people are bidding them up right now, so do not fight it and always trade what you see not what you think. Right now all I can see now is $MCP hit $50 today, $AVL broke out to new highs... etc. Below are couple rare earth stocks that are setting up for a breakout/continuation day.
